Expanding Horizons (SB 201)

Service Description

This intermediate course teaches how to expand your backcountry understanding and splitboard skill set in the mountains.  Format: 8 hours: 2 hour zoom conference briefing & equipment prep, minimum 6 hours field time with demonstration & practice. This course is designed for intermediate level backcountry splitboarders with some experience and covers the following learning outcomes: ​ - Assessment of splitboarding skills & knowledge base - BC 101 avalanche knowledge focus  - Backcountry travel, transitions and enhanced skill building - Terrain management and riding skills on slopes < 35 degrees - Small group dynamics, communication & decision making Pre-requisite: Each student must have the proficiency of several day tours in the backcountry before enrolling in this course.
