Avalanche Level 1 is a 3 day course to provide a solid foundation in avalanche knowledge and skills.
Service Description
Avalanche Level One Rec emphasizes managing risk by avoiding exposure to the dangers in avalanche terrain while analyzing weather, snowpack, terrain and human involvement. Each student will cover: - Avalanche terminology and descriptions - Field observations regarding terrain, snowpack, and weather - Recognizing avalanche terrain & demonstrate travel procedures in avalanche terrain - Formation of the mountain snowpack - Weather effects & changes the snowpack - Snowpit evaluation and interpretation of stability tests - Interpreting the avalanche forecast bulletin & tour planning - Risk Management Framework with human factors and how they can influence decision-making - Avalanche equipment use & companion reuse skills / drills Format: 3 days/24 course hours: Text book with field time with demonstration, scenarios & practice.
